You are more likely to be considered for a job if:

• You are honest about any prior convictions.
• You look for jobs at companies with a history of employing those with criminal records.
• You have proof of any efforts you have made to rehabilitate yourself–this could include time spent at a substance abuse rehab facility, reparations paid, or community service hours.
• You have completed your sentence.
• You are prepared to explain the situation. Consider writing a personal statement explaining what happened and how you’ve avoided repeating the behavior that led to your conviction.
